Fred F. Mirmiran, PE received the award for Meritorious Service from the American Society of Civil Engineering, Maryland Section (ASCE) for his decades of dedicated service to not only the engineering profession, but also the community through his philanthropic work.

Fred, currently Chairman of JMT’s Board of Directors and a member of the Board of Trustees, joined Johnson, McCordic & Thompson in 1979 as a fourth partner. The firm from its inception focused solely on private developments in the Washington, DC metro area.  He came to JMT with a dedication to a new line of business – public sector work. In 1980, Mike McCordic left the firm, and Mirmiran became the “M” in JMT.  Through hard work and a promise of quality, JMT earned a reputation for exceeding client expectations, initially on highway/bridge design and construction management projects.  As president and chairman of the board, Fred has been the catalyst for the firm’s continued geographic and discipline expansion.

As the founder of the Maryland Highway Safety Foundation, Fred brought together political leaders from both sides of the aisle, business leaders, transportation agency officials, and emergency responders.  Numerous businesses and their employees “took the pledge” to implement driver safety programs in their organizations to help reduce the number and severity of vehicular collisions.

The Mirmiran Foundation is a major donor to the United Way, Maryland Shock Trauma, American Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, Kennedy Krieger, Maryland Food Bank, and other local organizations. Fred leads by example in his encouragement; JMT and its employees are dedicated to giving back to the communities in which they live and work through volunteering and charitable donations.
