JMT Receives ACEC Awards in Three States
March 1, 2013Location: Sparks, Maryland
JMT received multiple awards at the annual Engineering
Excellence Awards dinners held recently by three American Council
of Engineering Companies (ACEC) chapters: ACEC/Pennsylvania,
ACEC/Maryland, and ACEC/Delaware.
ACEC/PA
JMT received Diamond Awards for two projects:
ADAMobile Solution (Building/Technology Systems
category)
JMT Technology Group developed ADAMobile, a mobile solution that
provides the ability to inventory pedestrian facilities based on
ADA Standards for Accessible Design. Built for the Delaware
Department of Transportation using Esri ArcGIS Mobile technology,
ADAMobile allows field crews to collect data and provide real-time
updates to the office. The deployment of the ADA inventory system
included establishing a system infrastructure, building an ADA
database, and configuring data entry forms.
Gettysburg Transit
Center, Gettysburg, PA (Small Projects category)
JMT provided land development, site and building design, and
construction management and inspection for a new transit center in
historic downtown Gettysburg. The transit center consists of a
1,500 SF bus transfer center, outdoor open and covered plaza areas,
patron seat walls, bicycle facilities, landscaping and water
quality rain gardens, lighting, wayfinding signage, historic
panels, and other site amenities.
PennDOT District 5-0 was recognized as the Client of Distinction,
based on the recommendation by JMT. This award was accepted
by District Executive Michael Rebert, PE.
ACEC/MD
JMT received Honor Awards for two projects:
Maryland Mobility Report (Studies, Research, and
Consulting Engineering Services category)
The 2012 Maryland Mobility Report is the initial publication of
what is anticipated to become an annual report on the status of
roadway system congestion in the state. The report, developed
jointly by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA),
University of Maryland Center for Advanced Transportation
Technology, and JMT, greatly raises the level of understanding
about true traffic conditions through the application of INRIX
data. Future annual reports will help allow SHA to measure progress
in terms of reducing congestion.
Owings Mills Boulevard Phase I, Baltimore County, MD
(Transportation category)
A 1.2 mile extension of Owings Mills Boulevard opened to traffic
in August 2012. JMT completed the contract documents in less
than six months, addressing numerous environmental, political and
economic constraints placed upon the project team, and saved the
client more than $1 million.
ACEC/DE
JMT received an Honor Award for:
Centreville Streetscape, New Castle County, MD
(Transportation category)
For two decades, the residents and commuters along Kennett Pike in
Centreville have been requesting improvements to their major
commuter road. JMT performed a planning study and design
engineering services for the Delaware Department of
Transportation. We proposed a Complete Streets plan that
provides safe and increased accessibility for pedestrians and
motorists, which in turn promotes a healthier community and
economic prosperity. The project was delivered on time and on
budget.
