JMT provided commissioning services for two LEED® Silver welcome centers and associated buildings.

JMT provided total building commissioning services (CxA) services on behalf of the State of Maryland for dual I-70 welcome centers and associated buildings which were designed to LEED® Silver standards. The $20 million project utilized the Design-Build approach.

This project was registered for LEED NC 2.2. Entire building system commissioning was necessary to verify the building's true energy efficiency, in the following specific areas:

  • Architectural Systems: Weather protection, water-tightness and R-value characteristics of the roofing, walls and glazing systems
  • HVAC Systems: Geothermal heating and cooling including wells, air-to-water heat pumps, water-to-water heat exchangers and the radiant floor heating
  • Plumbing Systems: Water-to-water domestic water heating from the geothermal system
  • Electrical Systems: Lighting, power distribution, emergency power, and fire detection and alarm

JMT performed commissioning services in accordance with the ASHRAE Guideline O methodology and included adherence to the Owners Project Requirements (OPR), validation of project design, definition of commissioning requirements construction checklists, witness of functional testing and final acceptance testing, review of test and balance reports and O&M documentation and warranty phase/seasonal performance verification.
