JMT recently joined project partners in celebrating a major construction milestone at Towson High School with the placement of the final structural beam for the school’s historic renovation and expansion project. Hosted by Keller Construction, the topping-out ceremony marked significant progress on the transformative effort as work continues to reshape the campus for future generations of students.

The $25 million project for Baltimore County Public Schools includes a comprehensive renovation and five-story addition, selective demolition, and upgrades to athletic fields and facilities. Delivered in three phases over a five-year period, the project requires a high level of coordination to maintain progress and support completion ahead of the 2030 school year.

Originally opened in 1949, Towson High School has grown and evolved through multiple additions over the decades. This latest investment will modernize the campus into a 21st-century learning environment while increasing the school’s state-rated capacity from 1,260 to 1,728 students, creating expanded opportunities to serve the community for years to come.

JMT’s Tom Gabler, based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, is supporting the project through construction inspection services and schedule review efforts. During his 14 years with JMT, Tom has contributed to projects across multiple states, but Towson High School carries a more personal connection. With a short five-mile bike commute and longstanding family ties to the school, he is helping deliver a project that will have a lasting impact on the community he calls home.

Projects like Towson High School serve as a reminder that infrastructure and facility improvements extend beyond buildings and construction milestones. They create spaces that strengthen communities, support future generations, and make a meaningful difference in the places where people live, learn, and grow.
