Construction on Route 32 Expansion Begins in Howard County
August 31, 2017
Location: Howard County, Maryland
JMT joined Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman at the end of August to celebrate the groundbreaking for the expansion of MD 32 in Clarksville.
MD 32, a congested state roadway that connects to I-70, supports more than 30,000 vehicles each day, a number that is expected to increase to 52,000 by 2040. JMT’s CMI group is providing an area engineer to the Maryland State Highway Administration for construction of the project, which will widen MD 32 between MD 108 and Linden Church Road in three phases.
“Too many have experienced the severe congestion common here in this corridor of Howard County, and some people have even lost loved ones in fatal crashes along this corridor. This two-lane road was simply not built to handle the volume of traffic,” Hogan said during the event. “So, beginning today that is going to end. The state is answering your call and we are finally going to break the bottleneck on this busy highway.”
