JMT Honored By Red Cross for Commitment to Community
JMT was honored by the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region as one of its “2013 Hometown Heroes”. The Red Cross recently held an annual Hometown Heroes Gala to thank and celebrate stand-out individuals and organizations that truly make a difference in the communities in which they serve.
JMT received this year’s Community Impact Award, which is given to a company or individual whose philanthropic contributions are making a direct, grassroots impact in the Chesapeake region. Rather than a plaque or framed certificate, the award was provided in the uniquely appropriate form of a customized First Aid kit (see photo) emblazoned with phrases emphasizing JMT’s core values and guiding principles.
Since 1992, the employees of Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson have given nearly $700,000 to the American Red Cross through corporate donations, employee gifts, and the matching contributions of those employee gifts by JMT and the Mirmiran Foundation. Our firm is seen as a leader supporting the Red Cross’s planned programs and events and is consistently among the first to respond to disasters and other urgent needs. We participate regularly in blood drives and volunteer projects, and also provide guidance by serving on the local Red Cross board of directors.
JMT was in prestigious company at the Hometown Heroes event. This year’s other corporate honorees were the Baltimore Ravens and Under Armour, which received the Chairman’s Award and Mission Partner Award, respectively.
The Red Cross is always there when disaster strikes. Whether the need is down the street, across the country or around the world, the Red Cross is committed to assist. We are proud of our 100% employee owned firm for the generosity and eagerness to support the Red Cross in times of need, both in our own communities and anywhere throughout the world that people require shelter, food, clothing and other essential help.
We are appreciative of the Hometown Heroes award.
Please support your local Red Cross.
