JMT was honored with the 2012 Outstanding “Diversity Champion” Business award by the Minority Business Council of the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia, on November 8, 2012. The award was presented during the City Minority Business Council’s 14th Annual Conference and EXPO at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

JMT was recognized for its exceptional service delivery and corporate culture of providing business opportunities to minority teaming partners. We were nominated by Delceno C. Miles, president of The Miles Agency, who wrote:

“JMT has consistently proven their authentic commitment to diversity contracting. I have worked with JMT for several years now. They include my minority-owned firm not only in their bids but the planning, strategy and implementation of their approach. I’m TRULY a part of their team – not just a name on a list. They have always stood behind their promises to utilize my firm and I’ve never had any issues. What I appreciate most is that they always ask me if I’d like to join their team in business pursuits, they never make the assumption. When they win the bid, they deliver on their [Woman, Service Disabled Veteran and Minority Participation Plan]. They are the model that all prime contractors should follow.”

The Minority Business Council (MBC) serves as an advisory agency to the Virginia Beach City Manager and the City Council with respect to the City’s procurement policies and procedures. The MBC’s mission is: “To advance and facilitate an environment of business opportunities, focusing on increasing expenditures to minority and woman-owned businesses by the City of Virginia Beach as a means to further the City’s economic development and vitality.”

We are honored to receive the MBC’s Outstanding Diversity Champion award and look forward to continuing our strong relationships with minority teaming partners in the service of our clients.
