The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) honored JMT Technology Group and our business partner, Esri, with an Outstanding Downtown Partnership/Program “Momentum Award” for a new mobile application that the BID uses for field asset management activities.

The cloud-based, mobile application allows the BID to view and monitor public space activity in real time and to convey issues more efficiently to partnering agencies such as DC government, National Park Service, and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

DowntownDC BID staff may report on the condition of assets such as street poles, sidewalks, and trees, and a current asset and GIS inventory is much simpler to maintain. The application uses Esri ArcGIS technology to better manage public space, analyze data, produce maps, and improve decision making.  Rich Bradley, Executive Director of the DowntownDC BID, explains the added value: “This really advances our technological abilities and places the collaborative efforts with the local government on a new level. We’re excited to see this project evolve and become a new standard for monitoring and administering the public space.”

JMT Technology Group worked closely with the BID to understand all the unique problems and concerns occurring downtown, resulting in a carefully developed, customized mobile application. “The DowntownDC BID solution provides the mechanism to collect the information, report it to the city via Open311 standards, and generate reports for performance measurement,” says Tim Abdella, Senior Associate from JMT Technology Group. “It not only saves time and money in the field, it provides actionable information that improves the quality of life in the district.”

The DowntownDC BID is a non-profit organization that works to improve the public environment and economy.  The organization is represented by key stakeholders representing the commercial real estate, hospitality and tourism, entertainment and cultural, public utility, legal, transportation, religious and education sectors, as well as the federal government. The DowntownDC BID Momentum Awards recognize people, projects, and organizations in the public and private sectors that bring innovation and excitement to the downtown DC area.
