JMT Wins VTCA Engineering Award
JMT was honored recently as a winner in the 2013 Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) Engineering Awards program. Honors were awarded at the annual VTCA-VDOT Consultant Forum.
JMT’s work on the I-77 Southbound Lanes over New River won in the “Projects Smaller than $10 million – VDOT” category.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently completed an important improvement to the I-77 southbound lanes approaching the bridge over the New River in Wythe County. The project reconstructed a curve, where nineteen crashes occurred over a three-year period. Collaboration between VDOT, JMT — the roadway designer — and the contractor resulted in completing the project under budget.
JMT’s design for the Telegraph Road Park and Ride in Prince William County project received honorable mention in the “Projects Smaller than $10 Million – Municipal” category.
Prince William County commuters have 553 new spaces at the new Telegraph Road Park and Ride Facility (Phase 1). The location complements the existing Horner Road Commuter Lot – which offers direct access to HOV lanes. The project was a joint venture with funding sources from federal, state, local and private funding which came in ahead of schedule and under budget.
The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance is an association of more than 300 companies — contractors, aggregate producers, engineers, suppliers and service providers — who design, build and maintain Virginia’s transportation network.
