New LEED®-Certified Fire Station Dedicated
Rubeling & Associates, a JMT Division, attended the dedication of Baltimore County’s new LEED®-certified Fire Station #1 in Towson, MD. County Executive Kevin Kamenetz commended Rubeling and North Point Builders for designing and constructing the project for less than the $7.6 million received from the former Fire Station #1 property sale, thereby resulting in no cost to County residents. He also praised Rubeling and North Point as local Baltimore County companies.
The 19,700 square-foot fire station includes a five-bay apparatus room with polished concrete flooring, and a two story building containing living, sleeping, community, and office spaces for fire department personnel. The design features a brick veneer exterior, steel and Dryvit accents, second floor precast concrete plank, and combination bearing wall and steel frame. LEED® certification elements included low flow plumbing fixtures, mechanical systems using 21% less energy, and a vegetation tray green roof.
