Project Engineer - Highways
Project Engineer (Highways) (multiple vacancies)
Duties:
- Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
- Perform design computations.
- Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
- Develop construction cost estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction.
- Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates.
- Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines.
- Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals. Prepare proposals as required.
- Attend meetings with clients.
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality.
- Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- VDOT GRIT Certification.
- 4 years of experience in roadway design, including 3 years with projects administered by VDOT and other localities in Virginia.
- 4 years of experience with each of the following: OpenRoads; Microstation; AutoCAD; Civil 3D; Bluebeam; and AASHTOWare Project Preconstruction.
