The SR 288 (Main Street) over Wampum Run projectreceived honors at the 2014 National Accelerated Bridge Construction Conference held in Miami on December 5, 2014.

The SR 288 project, located in Lawrence County, PA, involved the replacement of the bridge on an accelerated schedule.  Because of the 22-mile detour route, PennDOT District 11-0 challenged JMT to design a bridge using accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques to minimize the number of days of closure. PennDOT’s preferred option was a modular 78-foot steel rolled beam structure founded on integral abutments.  Joseph B. Fay, the general contractor, constructed the bridge in seven days.

The conference awards panel selected SR 288 over Wampum Run as the Best Project in the Prefabricated Bridge Elements and Systems category.
