Two Construction Management Projects Receive Honors

JMT’s Construction Management staff were recently honored by two Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) chapters.
CMAA Baltimore Chapter recognized JMT for the Fairmont Heights High School replacement in Prince George’s County, MD with a Construction Management Project Achievement Award (over $50 million category).
Fairmont Heights is new $83.4-million, 193,000-square-foot high school with a capacity for 961 students submitted for LEED® Gold certification, which replaces a building constructed in 1950. The state-of-the-art facility supports a comprehensive, academy-based educational model aimed at expanding academic opportunities for students in Prince George’s County. The interior includes a 750-seat auditorium and a 341-seat dining room serving the cafeteria. Sitework includes baseball, softball, soccer and field hockey fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, a football stadium with synthetic field turf and a track, a gymnasium, and wrestling practice room.
Our work on the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Boat Maintenance Facility project in Atlantic City, NJ was honored by the CMAA Mid-Atlantic Chapter with a Project Achievement Award in the environmental category.
JMT provided a full-time construction inspector for a new 12,000-square-foot building containing a boat maintenance bay, office, shops, and a second floor with a gym, locker rooms, and training rooms. The building was designed specifically to withstand major coastal hurricanes and remain operational for USCG during severe weather events. The structure and exterior envelope has been hardened to survive even the most powerful storms. All building systems, including the telecommunications center, have been designed to remain fully functional without power and utilities for five to seven days following a major event.
