JMT was part of the team recently honored at the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Environmental Excellence Awards for work performed on the Upper Little Patuxent River stream restoration in Howard County with the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA).

The Environmental Excellence Awards program recognizes teams for outstanding achievement in MDOT environmental projects and programs, specifically for the teams’ efforts to prevent or eliminate pollution.

The team of JMT and Ecotone, Inc. was selected to provide design, permitting, and construction for the SHA’s first design-build stream restoration project.  The improvements will provide annual reductions of 3,560 pounds of nitrogen, 965 pounds of phosphorus, and 1,254 tons of sediment from reaching the Chesapeake Bay.  The Environmental Excellence award recognizes this project as an excellent example of using the SHA partnering procedures during the design-build process to increase environmental benefits, reduce costs, and accelerate completion.
