JMT developed construction documents and provided construction oversight for new synthetic turf baseball and softball fields for Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Our team guided the University through the various steps of the field design, including selecting the turf, shock pad, infill, field graphics, and field equipment. We provided detailed design and specifications for the base course, drainage system, surfacing, and infill placement, and provided construction oversight for the new fields.

The fields were designed with synthetic turf infields, warning tracks, and bullpens. The outfields remained natural grass. Using synthetic turf infields allows the athletes to get on the fields early in the season when most clay infields are unusable due to weather conditions.

JMT worked with the Facilities department, Athletic department, sports trainers, and coaches on the design and selection of the components of the field system.

The field construction started in January 2020 (during winter in Indiana County, PA) and was stopped by the state in March due to COVID-19. The project resumed in May and was completed in June of 2020.
