JMT (as ECM International) served as the construction manager in support of the City of El Paso, TX, for multiple citywide bus rapid transit systems (RTS) called the Sun Metro Brios. The Brios, with a construction cost of $44 million, included the Mesa, Alameda, Dyer, and Montana corridors, each consisting of 18 to 22 Brio bus station stops. The stations needed new concrete platforms, upgrades to sidewalks and driveways adjacent to the stations to meet ADA requirements, and the installation of lighted bus waiting canopies with landscaping and amenities such as Wi-Fi in both the buses and the bus stops.

JMT coordinated the activities of the design engineer, contractors, utility companies, and TxDOT. JMT also implemented a community outreach program to manage stakeholders such as business owners and homeowners. JMT also created a “lessons learned” document, which would be very valuable for the design and construction of the next RTS corridors.
