Sam Houston State University (SHSU), Texas State University System (TSUS)

The College of Osteopathic Medicine is a four-level, 107,000 SF medical school building plus a mezzanine, built on a 7.3-acre property in Conroe, TX. The college is the third state-chartered osteopathic college in Texas.

The facility includes instructional, research, administration, and student life spaces. Specialty areas include an osteopathic manipulative medicine lab, a gross anatomy lab, tissue culture research labs, standardized patient suites, and simulation suites. Also included are a 200-seat teaching theater and a 300-seat active learning center. The mezzanine is dedicated to the student learning center.

JMT (formerly ECM International) led project management services and offered creative, time-saving solutions throughout the planning, design, and construction phases. JMT played an instrumental role in the project development phase by working directly with the developer to establish a fast-track plan for approving the project’s plans through the Architectural Control Committee. Through guidance by SHSU and JMT, this expandable facility was completed four months in advance of its contractual substantial completion date.
