TxDOT Austin District Headquarters

JMT (formerly ECM International) served as a subconsultant on the project management team overseeing the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) new Austin District Headquarters. Consolidating 32 TxDOT division offices at a single campus would improve efficiency, communication, and collaboration between the divisions while reducing operating expenses.

The headquarters is located on 49 acres of previously undeveloped land. The scope of work included five buildings plus extensive site work on six structured detention ponds, site lighting, roads, retaining walls, and enhanced drainage features. The design embraces current design trends for efficient space use, shared workspaces, hoteling, various dining options, and a fitness center with an on-site nurse.

JMT’s services included design review, construction contracts review, tracking of the construction budget, and pay application tracking and review. JMT also provided change order review, construction contingency review, owner contingency review, reporting of construction activities, issue tracking, and general project management support.
